What Can Voters Do About "Pork Barrelling"?

There is an unspoken covenant between tax-payers and government that we expect our taxes to be used first and foremost for the good of our people and country, hopefully in an efficient manner. Yet the list of rorts grows month by month, as the Auditor-General reports on unsatisfactory decision making by MPs in power. What can we do between elections to say this standard doesn’t meet public expectations? In this session we will look at regulations in overseas parliaments preventing the use of public monies for vote buying. We will discuss actions we can take in our own electorates.
