There have only been 44 referendums to amend Australia’s constitution and of those only 8 have resulted in a “yes” vote. “The Voice” referendum is the first referendum of this millennium and the result is binding. We will examine the result of this latest referendum and what it means both for movement for an Indigenous voice in parliament and for Australia generally. We will also discuss what happens next both as a parliamentary process and for the movement generally.
