Lukianoff & Haidt: The Coddling of the American Mind

Greg Lukianoff (a First Amendment expert) and Jonathan Haidt (a world-famous social psychologist) are the co-authors of the 2018 book called ‘The Coddling of the American Mind: How Good Intentions and Bad Ideas Are Setting Up a Generation for Failure’. They show how several of the new problems on American college campuses, such as threats to free speech and ‘cancel culture’, as well as rising rates of anxiety, depression and suicide, are rooted in three terrible ideas: What does not kill you makes you weaker; Always trust your feelings; and, Life is a battle between good people and evil people.
