Hidden Hand: Exposing How the Chinese Communist Party is Reshaping the World

Clive Hamilton (b. 1953) is an Australian public intellectual who has previously written about China’s influence operations in Australia. In this follow-up to Silent Invasion, Hamilton joins forces with Mareike Ohlberg, a Berlin-based researcher whose work focuses on China’s digital policies. Together, Hamilton and Ohlberg have crafted an intricate and detailed account of the nature and extent of the Chinese Communist Party’s influence operations across the Western world – in politics, business, universities, think tanks, and in international institutions such as the United Nations. In this lecture, we will examine how Communist China is using democracy in order to undermine democracy.
