Nobel Prize Winners: Albert Einstein (1921) & Willy Brandt (1971)

125 years ago, on 10 Dec 1896, Swedish inventor and industrialist Alfred Nobel died. Since 1901 that day is commemorated each year by the awarding of five Nobel Prizes in Stockholm and Oslo. 50 years ago, in 1971, the Nobel Peace Prize laureate was the then German Chancellor Willy Brandt for his efforts to normalise relations between West Germany and its East European neighbours, especially Poland. 50 years earlier, another German had won the Nobel Prize in Physics: Albert Einstein. Both men shared a ‎commitment ‎‎to enhance international understanding,‎‎ ‎‎peace‎‎ and ‎‎socialism‎. These anniversaries provide a good opportunity to shed some light on their lives and achievements.
