This course focuses on how the mind, body and our approach to life can influence the way we deal with and reduce stress. Learn practical and well researched techniques and strategies to manage the stresses in your life and increase your sense of wellbeing. You will have the opportunity to meditate, identify what works for you and discover different ways of reducing stress.

  • What is stress?: The mind body connection, Symptoms of stress, Assessing stress and wellbeing
  • All in the mind?: Harnessing your thinking, Mindfulness and flow, The four 'A’s – Avoid, Alter, Adapt and Accept
  • Empowering your body: Nutrition and health, Moving and fitness, Sleep and relaxation
  • Managing work and personal: Coping strategies, Simplify your life, Creating a well-being plan


PLANNED LEARNING OUTCOMES
By the end of this course, students should be able to:

  1. Identify and assess personal stress in both work and personal areas.
  2. Discuss and practice body and mind stress management techniques.
  3. Develop strategies to reduce stress at work and in personal areas.
  4. Create an individual well-being plan.
