Experience an in-depth introduction, incorporating postures, breathing techniques, meditation and deep relaxation, based on the teaching styles of the Satyananda Yoga and International Yoga Teachers' Associations. Please wear comfortable clothing. Maximum of 13 students.


COURSE OUTLINE
The history and philosophy of yoga will be briefly introduced, as well as the theory behind the relaxation sessions. Contra-indications to certain practices will be given special attention. The importance of the breath for daily well-being will be stressed.
In each session we will cover the following:

  • Yoga postures for stretching and strengthening different parts of your body.
  • Breathing techniques.
  • 5 minutes deep relaxation practice.
  • Awareness techniques for focusing and calming the mind.
  • Hints on how to apply these techniques in everyday life.


PLANNED LEARNING OUTCOMES
By the end of this course, students should be able to:

  1. Apply a number of yogic techniques in everyday life and at work.
  2. Utilise relaxation techniques at appropriate times.
  3. Experience the joy of stretching and relaxing the body.
