Land Art, or Environmental Art, is an art movement starting in the 1960s & 1970s, partially as a protest against the ruthless commercialisation of art at the time. Land Art has continued to grow and today we see some stunning modern works, such as by Australian artist Andrew Rogers whose Rhythms of Life series included works in Namibia to Iceland to Antarctica. This session we will look at Christo and Jean-Claude, when they wrapped Little Bay in Sydney, in 1969 and Robert Smithson’s 1970 work of Spiral Jetty, as well as more recent but exceptionally important international contributions of Andrew Rogers.
