...From the quality of mercy to the law’s delay, this fun, informative and interactive presentation explores Shakespeare’s depiction of justice. Is the threat to ‘kill all the lawyers’ horror or homage? Was the Bard a believer in black letter law? Or did he put people first? Given the volume of legal references in Shakespeare, how could a non-lawyer have written the work that bears his name? Join our jury as we adjudicate on some of Shakespeare’s infinite legal variety. Please note that this event will include performance and encourages participation from the students.

By the end of this course, students should be able to:
- Have a greater appreciation of Shakespeare’s genius and, specifically, the various ways he depicts aspects of the law that remain relevant today
- Reflect on their own ideas about the role of the law, the concepts of justice and mercy, and the foibles of being human
