Jan III Sobieski - Polish Saviour of Vienna

17 June 2021 marks the 325th anniversary of the death of Jan III Sobieski, King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania during the second half of the 17th century. A man of the arts and culture, he was also one of the most splendid soldiers of his time. Most notably, the besieged city of Vienna owes Sobieski gratitude for his heroic defeat of the Ottoman Turks on the city’s walls in 1683. A feat for which Pope Innocent XI hailed him as the “saviour of Christendom”.

This class will be delivered face-to-face at WEA Sydney. Enrolling students need to ensure they have read the current COVID-19 Safety Guidance that WEA Sydney has put in place before enrolling.
