Japanese Fabric Gift Wrapping

Using Japanese Furoshiki (traditional wrapping cloth) fabric wrapping skills, create a new style of gift wrapping. In 3 hours, learn around 8-10 different ways of fabric wrapping.

Material cost $10 per student available from tutor on the day. Please ensure that you bring to class the items in the Materials List.


  • Explanation of Furoshiki (Japanese traditional wrapping cloth).
  • Practising a correct “reef knot”.
  • Techniques of wrapping DVDs and books.
  • Techniques of wrapping square and cylinder boxes.
  • Techniques of wrapping spheres.
  • Techniques of wine bottle wrapping.

By the end of this course, students should be able to:

  1. Use Japanese Fabric Gift Wrapping techniques to make beautiful presents.

  • Wine bottle
  • Orange or apple
  • Scarves, bandanas and any cloth you don’t use anymore.
