Japanese Advanced Revision 3

This is a continuing course for students who wish to pursue their study of Japanese advanced level. This course is designed to enable students who worked through Japanese for Busy People 1, 2, 3, Minna no Nihongo Chuukyuu 1 & 2 and achieved their mastery of intermediate Japanese to progress smoothly into the advanced level. In this course, students will have the opportunity to focus on specific skills, such as extending vocabulary, phrases, expressions in given areas, improving listening, speaking, reading and writing skills, and developing a better understanding of specific cultural and social issues. The course includes talking about larger social topics by expressing individual opinions and some activities. It is assumed that students have about 660 hours of prior learning.


This class will be delivered online via the online platform Zoom. Enrolling students need to ensure they have an email, a reliable internet connection, microphone/speakers and access to a tablet, smartphone or computer. Classes will consist of a minimum of 1.5 hours virtual class time, together with 30 minutes worth of work to be completed independently. You will be able to contact your tutor by email or phone to ask for guidance and feedback on this work. In addition tutors may set additional homework.

Nine Sessions that aim to build high level comprehension and communication skills in advanced Japanese.

PLANNED LEARNING OUTCOMES
By the end of this course, students should be able to:

  1. Present and discuss opinions, ideas and points of view in Japanese.
  2. Communicates information effectively and fluently, with authentic intonation and pronunciation.
  3. Communicate in Japanese comfortably in a different situation.
  4. Have a confidence to write a range of text in Japanese.


IMPORTANT: Textbook cost is not included in the course fee. In the event of a course being cancelled WEA cannot be held responsible for the purchase of any textbooks. We therefore suggest you purchase your textbooks closer to the time of the course commencing.

LANGUAGE CLASS TRANSFER POLICY
If you are a new WEA Student and enrol into a language class and subsequently find that you are at the wrong level (whether too high or too low), you are permitted to transfer into another more suitable class at no additional cost, provided that the request is made within the first two classes and is in writing from your tutor directly to the Education Manager. After that point, an administration fee of $30 will apply.
