Japanese Advanced 2

This is a continuing course for students who wish to pursue their study of Japanese advanced level. This course is designed to enable students who worked through Japanese for Busy People 1, 2 and 3 and achieved their mastery of intermediate Japanese and progress smoothly into the advanced level. In this course, students will have the opportunity to focus on specific skills, such as extending vocabulary, phrases, expressions in given areas, improving reading and writing skills, and developing a better understanding of specific cultural and social issues. The course includes talking about larger social topics by expressing individual opinions. It is assumed that students have about 450+hours of prior learning.

Nine Sessions that aim to build high level comprehension and communication skills in advanced Japanese.


Conversational Japanese and a review of cultural practices, with a focus on clear explanation of advanced level language principles.

  • Indicating a reported speech
  • Indicating what is contained in
  • Negating a conclusion that could easily or generally be drawn from the context
  • Predicting that is probably correct but its truth or falsehood is uncertain
  • Showing that the contents of the preceding sentence is being restated

Lesson 16

  • Indicating a cause
  • Indicating what is being officially said
  • Indicating that a different result occurs
  • Indicating that one event occurs at the same time as another event
  • Indicating that the contrary occurred
  • Complaining that the opposite result occur


By the end of this course, students should be able to:

  1. Communicates in Japanese, in particular to give assistance and instructions to Japanese tourists.
  2. Exhibit the skills, vocabulary and study attitude required for continued study of Japanese.

If you are a new WEA Student and enrol into a language class and subsequently find that you are at the wrong level (whether too high or too low), you are permitted to transfer into another more suitable class at no additional cost, provided that the request is made within the first two classes and is in writing from your tutor directly to the Education Manager. After that point, an administration fee of $30 will apply.
