Practise Your Japanese (Intermediate) 3

This course is for students who have completed Japanese for Busy People 1 & 2 or students who have about 240+ hours of prior learning. The course focuses on improving conversational skills using the knowledge and skill which students have learnt while extending vocabulary, phrases and sentence structure studies. The course ranges from daily life topics to a wide variety of social and cultural topics. The course includes learning about both formal and informal ways of expressions according to the situation.

Nine sessions that aim to build intermediate comprehension and communication skills in Japanese.


Conversational Japanese and a review of cultural practices focus on clear explanation of intermediate level language principal.

  • Asking for Advice, Making Requests
  • Ordering, Conveying Information
  • Being Made to Do Things, Skillfully Making Self-Introduction
  • Explaining Conditions and Reasons, Explaining Option
  • Getting Permission, Giving a Warning
  • Using Respect Language


By the end of this course, students should be able to:

  1. Communicate in Japanese, in particular to give assistance, direction and instructions to Japanese tourists.
  2. Increase the skills, vocabulary and study attitude required for continued study of Japanese.


If you are a new WEA Student and enrol into a language class and subsequently find that you are at the wrong level (whether too high or too low), you are permitted to transfer into another more suitable class at no additional cost, provided that the request is made within the first two classes and is in writing from your tutor directly to the Education Manager. After that point, an administration fee of $30 will apply.
