Japanese Intermediate Revision

This is a revision course for students who have studied through Japanese for Busy People 3 or students who have 250+ hours of prior learning. In this course, students will have the opportunity to focus on specific skills, such as extending vocabulary, phrases, expressions in given areas, improving reading and writing skills, and developing a better understanding of specific cultural and social issues. This course will allow students to practise and improve in speaking and listening skills in Japanese through a wide variety of activities.

  • Expressing Impressions (you, mitai)
  • Conveying Information Gained Elsewhere (sou desu)
  • Expressing Impressions (sou), Expressing Beliefs (rashii)
  • Describing Actions Done (te oku), Describing Deliberate Effects (te aru)
  • Describing Change (youni naru), Expressing purpose (youni)
  • Describing Simultaneous Actions (nagara)
  • Giving Examples of Events or Actions (tari, tari)
  • Stating Decisions (kotoni naru, kotoni suru)
  • Describing the Actions of Giving and Receiving Services (te morau, te ageru, te kureru)
  • Expressing Intention (tsumori), Using Passive Structures (reru, rareru)
  • Using Causative Structures (seru, saseru)

By the end of this course, students should be able to:

  1. Communicate in Japanese, in particular to give assistance, direction and instructions to Japanese tourists.
  2. Increase the skills, vocabulary and study attitude required for continued study of Japanese.

IMPORTANT: Textbook cost is not included in the course fee. In the event of a course being cancelled WEA cannot be held responsible for the purchase of any textbooks. We therefore suggest you purchase your textbooks closer to the time of the course commencing.

If you are a new WEA Student and enrol into a language class and subsequently find that you are at the wrong level (whether too high or too low), you are permitted to transfer into another more suitable class at no additional cost, provided that the request is made within the first two classes and is in writing from your tutor directly to the Education Manager. After that point, an administration fee of $30 will apply.
