This course is for upper-beginner students who have completed the text book, “Japanese for Busy People 1” or have about 100 hours of prior learning. This course focuses on sentence structures, vocabulary building, speaking and listening skills whilst also learning about Japanese culture and customs. The students are required to read Hiragana and Katakana.


TEXT: Japanese for Busy People 2 (Revised 3rd Edition), publisher: Kodansha, Lessons 4-6.


CLASS PLAN
Nine sessions that aim to build general basic comprehension and communication skills in upper-beginner Japanese.


CONTENT
Conversational Japanese and an introduction to cultural practices, with a focus on clear explanation of basic language principles.

PLANNED LEARNING OUTCOMES
By the end of this course, students should be able to:

  1. Further expand the use of basic Japanese in everyday social and business settings.
  2. Further increase the skills, vocabulary and study attitude required for continued study of Japanese.

LANGUAGE CLASS TRANSFER POLICY
If you are a new WEA Student and enrol into a language class and subsequently find that you are at the wrong level (whether too high or too low), you are permitted to transfer into another more suitable class at no additional cost, provided that the request is made within the first two classes and is in writing from your tutor directly to the Education Manager. After that point, an administration fee of $30 will apply.
