Japanese Beginners Revision

This is a continuation course from lower levels of Japanese Beginners study, open to anyone wishing to develop their language skills. Students will develop enhanced skills in communication, reading, listening and writing. Revision from Japanese for Busy People 1.

Nine Sessions that aim to build general mid-level comprehension and communication skills in Japanese.


Conversational Japanese and a review of cultural practices, with a focus on clear explanation of higher level language principles.

  • Learning Hiragana (a, i, u, e, o)
  • Introducing yourself
  • Learning Hiragana (ka, ki, ku, ke, ko)
  • Talking about your family/ friends
  • Learning Hiragana (sa, shi, su, se, so)
  • Talking about your hobbies/ interests
  • Learning Hiragana (ta, chi, tsu, te, to)
  • Daily routine
  • Learning Hiragana (na, ni, nu, ne, no)
  • Talking about your holiday
  • Learning Hiragana (ha, hi, fu, he, ho)
  • Talking about your health/sport activities
  • Learning Hiragana (ma, mi, mu, me, mo, ya, yu, yo)
  • Stating likes, dislikes and desires
  • Learning Hiragana (ra, ri, ru, re, ro, wa, o, n)
  • Asking things/asking for advice
  • All Hiragana Revision


By the end of this course, students should be able to:

  1. Speak clearly and be understood in intermediate Japanese, in particular to give assistance, direction and instructions to Japanese tourists.
  2. Increase the skills, vocabulary and study attitude required for continued study of Japanese.


If you are a new WEA Student and enrol into a language class and subsequently find that you are at the wrong level (whether too high or too low), you are permitted to transfer into another more suitable class at no additional cost, provided that the request is made within the first two classes and is in writing from your tutor directly to the Education Manager. After that point, an administration fee of $30 will apply.
