Watching a film is a perfect way to learn Italian in context and be exposed to real life conversation and new day-to-day phrases and vocabulary; film is a great listening tool that increases students' ability to cope with different accents but also with authentic and varied language. Film exposes students to natural expressions and the natural flow of speech. The "visuality'' of films makes it an invaluable tool, enabling learners to understand more by interpreting the language in a full visual context.

Films assists the learners' comprehension by enabling them to listen to language exchanges and see such visual supports as facial expressions and gestures simultaneously. These visual clues support the verbal message and provide a focus of attention. Above all, film is a wonderful way of providing enjoyment while learning Italian, and a great vehicle to show people that learning the language, as well as being useful, can be fun.
