However, the decades since have seen an extraordinary resurgence in museums, and in the number of people who visit them. Contemporary museums are vital places with a significant voice in public debate. In this lecture, Dr Jamie Fraser asks why museums are still relevant in the 21st century, and considers the responsibilities that this brings.
