A History of Poland

Poland boasts a colourful history. Home to the first Christianised Slavic peoples. Once a powerful Kingdom stretching from “Sea to Sea”, Poland was carved up by the neighbouring powers and finally territorially shifted westwards. Present-day Poland is the third attempt at establishing a republic. Follow the twists and turns through a millennium of Polish history.

This class will be delivered face-to-face at WEA Sydney. Enrolling students need to ensure they have read the current COVID-19 Safety Guidance that WEA Sydney has put in place before enrolling.

By the end of this course, students should be able to:

  1. Appreciate the variety of historic developments in the Polish lands.
  2. Describe the main events and issues influencing life in Poland.
