The Golden Years of Hollywood

The fabulous Golden Years of Hollywood from the 1930s to the 1950s gave us some of the best loved films in the world. Let’s sit back with our jaffas and indulge our nostalgia by looking back at those films, and the stars and directors and studio systems that made them possible. We’re going to wander back through romance, comedy, noir, horror, thrillers, and epics, to explore the cultural context and values, technical innovation and genre tropes. And maybe we can work out why it is that "They just don’t make 'em like that any more!"

This class will be delivered online via the online platform Zoom. Enrolling students need to ensure they have an email, a reliable internet connection, microphone/speakers and access to a tablet, smartphone or computer.
