A day to learn and practice the Chinese game which spread across the world in the 1920s, with many variations. International competition is based on the rules of the British Mah Jong Association. They balance luck and skill in shaping the play , and the tutor will follow them in teaching the game, beginning with the cultural significance of the beautiful playing tiles. We move from the basic game played just for fun, to more advanced versions, which may be played for money (or poker chips!). If you have a mah jong set, bring it along, but sets will be available.
