Greece in Focus - Athens

One of the world’s oldest cities, Athens is not only home to the world famous UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Acropolis, but also to many other museums and the classical philosophers Plato and Aristotle. Hailed as the cradle of democracy and birthplace of Western Civilisation, the city oozes history on every corner. Architecture fans can indulge in styles ranging from Antiquity to Modern, including Art Deco and Bauhaus. The modern era of Olympic Games started in Athens in 1896, and in 2004 the city hosted the games a second time, which provided huge impetus in improving the city’s tourism infrastructure.
