This course is for students who need to communicate with fluency in German. Students will have the opportunity to focus on specific skills, such as extending vocabulary in given areas, improving written language, and developing a better understanding of specific cultural and social issues. The class is conducted in German; conversation is the focal point of the first part of the lesson while the second part introduces new areas of grammar and vocabulary.

CLASS PLAN
Nine Sessions that aim to build high level comprehension and communication skills in advanced German.


CONTENT
Conversational German and a review of cultural practices, with a focus on clear explanation of higher level language principles.

Unit 10

Unit 9

  • The verb lassen
  • Genitive case
  • Passive voice

Unit 10

  • Question words like Woran? Wovon? Etc.
  • Conjunctions
  • Verbs with prepositions
  • Building of nouns with the endings –keit and -heit


PLANNED LEARNING OUTCOMES
By the end of this course, students should be able to:

  1. Communicate in fluent German.
  2. Use advanced German skills in conversation in both social and business settings.
  3. Exhibit the skills, vocabulary and study attitude required for continued study of German at an advanced level.

LANGUAGE CLASS TRANSFER POLICY
If you are a new WEA Student and enrol into a language class and subsequently find that you are at the wrong level (whether too high or too low), you are permitted to transfer into another more suitable class at no additional cost, provided that the request is made within the first two classes and is in writing from your tutor directly to the Education Manager. After that point, an administration fee of $30 will apply.
