Available Classes

This course is a continuation from German Elementary 1 and is for any student wishing to learn the language for business, travel or everyday use with approximately 120 hours of German required. Students will develop skills to use in conversation, reading, listening and writing. This course aims to build mid-level comprehension and communication skills in intermediate German and a review of cultural practices, with a focus on clear explanation of higher level language principles. Classes will consist of a minimum of 1.5 hours virtual class time, together with 30 minutes worth of work to be completed independently. You will be able to contact your tutor by email or phone to ask for guidance and feedback on this work. In addition tutors may set additional homework.

  • Time adverbs
  • Verbs with their prepositions

Unit 5

  • Medias
  • Talking about new and old medias and the internet
  • Writing SMS, emails and a complaint
  • Comment a graphic
  • Indirect questions
  • Endings of adjectives in the nominative and accusative case

Unit 6

  • Going out, meeting people
  • Week-end activities and plans for a night out
  • Talking about how to get to know people and where to meet people
  • Role play ‘Commenting meals in a restaurant’
  • Personal pronouns in the dative
  • Relative clauses and relative pronouns
     

LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of this course, students should be able to:

  1. Can understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment).
  2. Can communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters.
  3. Can describe in simple terms aspects of his/her background, immediate environment and matters in areas of immediate need.
     

LANGUAGE CLASS TRANSFER POLICY

If you are a new WEA Student and enrol into a language class and subsequently find that you are at the wrong level (whether too high or too low), you are permitted to transfer into another more suitable class at no additional cost, provided that the request is made within the first two classes and is in writing from your tutor directly to the Education Manager. After that point, an administration fee of $30 will apply.
