Practise Your German through Short Stories (B2-C1)

Meet important German speaking writers of the 20th and 21st century. Learn about their biographies. Read and discuss their short stories or book excerpts as well as the political, social and cultural environment of their themes. This course is held in German. A good knowledge of the language (Level B2 or C1) is required.


DELIVERY MODE
This class will be delivered online via the online platform Zoom. Classes will consist of a minimum of 1.5 hours virtual class time, together with 30 minutes worth of work to be completed independently. You will be able to contact your tutor by email or phone to ask for guidance and feedback on this work. In addition tutors may set additional homework. This course requires students to have an email, a reliable internet connection, a microphone/speakers and access to a tablet, smartphone or computer. Please note that WEA Sydney is unable to provide any technical support for students' personal equipment. We understand that for many of our students this is a new and novel approach. If you are unsure if it is for you, please note that we will offer you a no questions asked refund up until the end of Week 2.

PLANNED LEARNING OUTCOMES
By the end of this course, students should be able to:

  1. Improve their oral confidence by communicating in German.
  2. Use grammatical structures and comprehension abilities to expand their vocabulary at an more advanced level.


LANGUAGE CLASS TRANSFER POLICY
If you enrol into a language class and subsequently find that you are at the wrong level (whether too high or too low), you are permitted to transfer into another more suitable class at no additional cost, provided that the request is made within the first two classes and is in writing from your tutor directly to the Education Manager. After that point, an administration fee of $30 will apply.
