This is a continuous course from French Intermediate 3 (A2) and is open to anyone wishing to develop their higher level French language skills. Students will develop enhanced skills in communication, reading, listening and writing. Most of the class is conducted in French.


TEXT: Alter Ego 2+ (2012) Dossier 2 Leçons 1-3.


CLASS PLAN
Nine Sessions that aim to build general advanced comprehension and communication skills in French.


CONTENT
Conversational French and an introduction to cultural practices, with a focus on clear explanation of higher level language principles.


Topics (as related to textbook)

  • Talking about University Studies; Professional experiences ; job applications and interviews.
  • Giving advice to prospective work candidates with regards to the interview, follow-ups and developments..
  • Revisions of Vocabulary and Grammar

Grammar (as covered in textbook topics)

  • The pluperfect
  • Regular and irregular adverbs ending in –amment and –emment
  • Time markers (2) : depuis, pendant, il y a, pour + durée
  • Structures to use to advise: using the Imperative; devoir + infinitive ; Si + present/futur; Il faut que + Subjunctive
  • Using the Subjunctive to express necessity with regular and irregular verbs + related phrases: Il est important que... Il est essentiel que...etc.


PLANNED LEARNING OUTCOMES
By the end of this course, students should be able to:

  1. To communicate in fluent French in a variety of situations.
  2. Increase the skills, vocabulary and study attitude required for continued study of French.

LANGUAGE CLASS TRANSFER POLICY
If you are a new WEA Student and enrol into a language class and subsequently find that you are at the wrong level (whether too high or too low), you are permitted to transfer into another more suitable class at no additional cost, provided that the request is made within the first two classes and is in writing from your tutor directly to the Education Manager. After that point, an administration fee of $30 will apply.
