Female Mathematicians of the Ancient World: Through Hardships to the Stars

In the past eras, women wishing to do mathematics had to overcome the persistent difficulties and prejudices before fulfilment of their dream. They had to occupy a special position in society like belonging to high royal family or being a daughter or a wife of an academic supporting her love for mathematics. Despite all difficulties, women of the ancient time: Enheduanna of Mesopotamia, Theano of Crotone, Aglaonike of Thessaly, Hypatia of Alexandria, demonstrated high achievements in mathematics.

This class will be delivered online via the online platform Zoom. Enrolling students need to ensure they have an email, a reliable internet connection, microphone/speakers and access to a tablet, smartphone or computer.
