Editing Your Illustration with iPad Pro

Have you ever thought of using your iPad Pro to edit your illustrations? Learn how by combining your creative imagination and the creative capabilities of iPad Pro to make awesome art. Use your artworks and or photographs to alter images, drawings, family portraits, cards, and collages! Using the apps Procreate and Autodraw you will be able to edit content with a wide variety of techniques and be able to put it all together to be able to print them out. Display your work on a wall or coffee table, in a book shelf, give them away or just tuck them into the filing cabinet!


This class will be delivered online via the online platform Zoom. Enrolling students need to ensure they have an email, a reliable internet connection, microphone/speakers and access to a separate tablet, smartphone or computer that can be used to join the Zoom meeting in addition to using their iPad Pro during the course.


COURSE OUTLINE
Enrolling students must ensure they have an iPad Pro with iOS 10.5 (or higher), Apple Pencil or equivalent drawing tool, as well as the apps “Procreate” and “AutoDraw” installed.

  • Editing Content using AutoDraw: Discover how awesome a magic wand can be! Masking and defining layer areas that you want to alter by either, cutting out or pasting into best done in this app. Learn sophisticated selections techniques and how to save and export your page edits between Autodraw and Procreate to get great results.
  • Edit Content using Procreate 5: Twisting and warping your content can be awesome too! If you have been in a situation that requires a small tweak but ultimately results in a complete make over? Not now, learn how you can bend, twist image areas to great effect!
  • Putting it all together: Let’s get a hard copy and check it out! Now its time review layers, drawings, images, text, make sure they are the way you want and save them in the right format to get best results. We will discuss file types, common uses and quality requirements for sharing online via email, messaging, posting to social media or hard copy. Expect your hard copies to vary depending who you use. Your own printer, Office Works, your local library, a Photo Lab and a professional printer will all produce a different result.


PLANNED LEARNING OUTCOMES
By the end of this course, students should be able to:

  1. Import and insert images into layers from your photo library, camera, external sources such as a magazine, photo album, PC, usb stick and the web.
  2. Use masking tools to test, duplicate, combine, scale, warp, distort, rotate, delete, re colour layer components that are in need of refinement with out effecting other layers.
  3. Export your canvas image in multiple formats so that they can be easily transported, emailed, printed and shared with friends and family.
