There is an early start to appreciate the Australian rural qualities of this beautiful valley. It is perfect open country for spotting birds of prey including Wedge-tailed Eagles and others to be introduced by the wonderful Carol Probets, local expert for the Blue Mountains. Robins also favour this terrain and the road down from Blackheath passes through patches of rainforest; a completely different bird habitat to the floor of Megalong. Plenty to learn and enjoy in the Blue Mountains and its valleys.
