With inspiring reference and various still life set-ups this course will introduce students to a variety of drawing materials and techniques using pencil, charcoal, fineliner pens, pastels and ink to explore various ways of drawing.


COURSE OUTLINE

  • You will be shown and discuss examples of various artists' work
  • Techniques will be demonstrated
  • Exploring the use of a range of art materials
  • Drawing with line and tone
  • Using Ink and wash
  • Composition
  • Mark making


MATERIALS LIST
All materials will be supplied at a charge of $5 per student – Please bring a photograph or picture (about A4 size) to be shown how to proportion up into a drawing

  • Pencils
  • Charcoal
  • Ink with a range of implements
  • Fineliner pens
  • Pastels
  • Drawing papers


PLANNED LEARNING OUTCOMES
By the end of this course, students should be able to:

  1. Understand various techniques for each medium.
  2. Learn how to proportion a photograph to make a drawing.
  3. Understand composition and perspective.
  4. Learn the use of line and tone.
  5. Experiment with a variety of mediums to create a collection of artworks.
