Elite Tombs of Ancient Egypt: Exploring the Tombs of the Pharaohs Servants

The Royal tombs of the Pharaohs of Egypt (Seti I, Ramses II, and Tutankhamun) are very well known and widely promoted in multimedia. However, there are dozens of wonderful tombs of the many and varied nobles, officials and master craftsmen who served the rulers of ancient Egypt. These often spectacular and beautifully decorated tombs depict scenes of elite daily life, the work undertaken for the ruler, and the complex funerary rites that allowed for a prosperous afterlife. In this illustrated talk, we will take a journey through 3,000 years of Egyptian history, exploring the elite tombs of Old Kingdom Saqqara, Middle Kingdom Beni Hassan and New Kingdom Thebes and Tell el Amarna.
