Dante's Purgatorio

Dante, the pilgrim, with his guide, Virgil, has left the Inferno and has arrived at the island-mountain of Purgatory, created by Lucifer’s fall. Before they can enter Purgatory proper, they must pass through Ante-purgatory, the area of the Late Repentant. The middle of the mountain is reserved for the purging of the seven Capital Sins. In the final section, Virgil takes his leave, the Pilgrim enters the Terrestrial Paradise and Beatrice appears. Once again, we encounter an array of characters both from antiquity and Dante’s Florence. Let us take another extraordinary journey.
