COURSE OUTLINE
This is a tour of the Bronte Parsonage at Haworth and the area around the parsonage (online) to mark the Bicentenary of Emily Jane Bronte. The tour will entail placing incidents in Emily’s life in the various rooms and her thoughts through her poetry, letters and prose to discover the real Emily not the uncomplimentary one Charlotte created to put herself in a better light and to share other people’s love of her poetry and prose by listening to their favourite pieces.


PLANNED LEARNING OUTCOMES
By the end of this course, students should be able to:

  1. Reveal the true character of Emily Bronte and her life in the parsonage.
  2. Make a tour of the parsonage rooms giving new and interesting information on family items and incidents taking place in those rooms including the return of the original dining table at a cost of $1Million.
  3. Create interest in Emily Bronte’s literary genius and her important place in literary history.
