Chinese (Mandarin) Intermediate 6

This courses follows on from Intermediate5 and is suitable for anyone who has completed this, or an equivalent program, and wishes to learn the language for business, travel or everyday use. Students will develop skills to use in conversation, reading, listening and writing.

CLASS PLAN

Nine sessions that aim to build general intermediate comprehension and communication skills in advanced Chinese.

CONTENT

Conversational Chinese and an introduction to cultural practices, with a focus on clear explanation of basic language principles.

  • Talking about incident
  • Visiting a patient
  • Talking about the weather
  • Making complaints
  • Recalling past events
  • Talking bout language studies
  • Making an change
  • The continuous aspect of an action or a state
  • The passive voice using “bei“
  • The resultative complements of “dao, zai“
  • The conditional construction of if
  • The complex directional complement
  • The prefix for ordinal numbers like the first, the second etc.
  • The construction of “dao & qu“
  • The construction of the “yue lai yue”
  • The prepostion of “dui“
  • The adverb “cai“
  • The construction of present continuos tense

PLANNED LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of this course, students should be able to talk about:

  1. Too bad, an accident happened!
  2. What do you do in the hospital
  3. Visiting a patient with a bunch of flowers

LANGUAGE CLASS TRANSFER POLICY

If you are a new WEA Student and enrol into a language class and subsequently find that you are at the wrong level (whether too high or too low), you are permitted to transfer into another more suitable class at no additional cost, provided that the request is made within the first two classes and is in writing from your tutor directly to the Education Manager. After that point, an administration fee of $30 will apply.
