This courses follows on from Beginners Conclusion and is suitable for anyone who has completed this, or an equivalent program, and wishes to learn the language for business, travel or everyday use. Students will develop skills to use in conversation, reading, listening and writing.


TEXT: New Practical Chinese Reader (2nd Ed), Beijing Language and Culture University Press, Book 1, covering Lesson 15 to Lesson 16.


CLASS PLAN
Nine sessions that aim to build general intermediate comprehension and communication skills in intermediate Chinese.


CONTENT
Conversational Chinese and an introduction to cultural practices, with a focus on clear explanation of basic language principles.

  • Filling out the form

  • The simple directional complement
  • The “ba” sentences
  • The time measure complement
  • The complement of state
  • Particle “le” to confirm the completion or realisation of something
  • Reduplication of the verb
  • Numeration for numbers from 100 to 10000


PLANNED LEARNING OUTCOMES
By the end of this course, students should be able to:

  3. Master more ways to express yourself.

LANGUAGE CLASS TRANSFER POLICY
If you are a new WEA Student and enrol into a language class and subsequently find that you are at the wrong level (whether too high or too low), you are permitted to transfer into another more suitable class at no additional cost, provided that the request is made within the first two classes and is in writing from your tutor directly to the Education Manager. After that point, an administration fee of $30 will apply.
