Australia's Founding Fathers

Most Australians have heard of Sir Henry Parkes, ‘the father of Federation’, but he was only the most notable of a number of men who campaigned for Federation and wrote successive versions of the Australian Constitution. Today we consider the lives and contributions of Parkes and five of his most notable but largely forgotten colleagues. Five of them have Canberra suburbs named after them, but not the one who, even then, campaigned for Australia to become a republic.
