  • Introduction to establish the concept of the First AIF and the Anzac legend, 1914-1918
  • Description of the army of the Second World War, in the light of the First AIF
  • The first 3 years 1939-1942
  • The second 3 years 1942-1945
  • Conclusions and implications for Australian society
