This course is about being able to oversee meeting preparation processes, chairing meetings, organising the minutes and reporting meeting outcomes.

This course consists of three (3) sections. They are:

  1. Prepare for Meetings
  2. Conduct Meetings
  3. Follow Up Meetings

At the conclusion of this course you will be asked to complete an assessment. The information contained in this resource will assist you to complete this task. On competent completion of this course, you will have demonstrated your ability to oversee meeting implementation.

Prepare for Meetings

  • Develop agenda in line with stated meeting purpose.
  • Ensure style and structure of meeting are appropriate to its purpose.
  • Identify meeting participants and notify them in accordance with organisations procedures.
  • Confirm meeting arrangements in accordance with requirements of meeting.
  • Despatch meeting papers to participants within designated time lines.
  • Assessment - ‘True’ or ‘False’ Quiz.

Conduct Meetings

  • Chair meetings in accordance with organisation requirements, agreed conventions for type of meeting and legal and ethical requirements.
  • Conduct meetings to ensure they are focused, time efficient and achieve outcomes.
  • Ensure meeting facilitation enables participation, discussion, problem-solving and resolution of issues.
  • Brief minute take on method for recording meeting notes in accordance with organisational requirements and conventions for type of meeting.
  • Assessment - ‘True’ or ‘False’ Quiz.

Follow Up Meetings

  • Check transcribed meeting notes to ensure they reflect a true and accurate record of the meeting, and are formatted in accordance with organisational procedures and meeting conventions.
  • Distribute and store minutes and other follow-up documentation within designated time lines, and according to organisational requirements.
  • Report outcomes of meetings as required, within designated time lines.
  • Assessment - ‘True’ or ‘False’ Quiz.


  • Course material will be accessible only for 6 months from payment date. Extensions will be granted only in the case where WEA Sydney’s website is not accessible due to maintenance or other technical issues.
  • Once your enrolment has been processed you will be issued with a password within 48 hours sent to the email you provided. This will provide 24 hour access to on-line course material, test and other resources. This will be sent to the email address you have provided.
  • No qualifications or special knowledge of a subject is required unless specified.
  • A certificate is issued automatically once the course test is completed with a 90% success rate.


  • Once you log into the course, no refunds will be issued.
  • Refunds/Deferral (into a different course) are processed only within 29 days after the issue of the log-in and only in cases when the log-in was NEVER used.
