This course consists of being able to manage risks in a range of contexts across the organisation or for a specific business unit or area.

The course is made up into four (4) sections. They are:

  1. Establish Risk Context
  2. Identify Risks
  3. Analyse Risks
  4. Select and Implement Treatments

At the conclusion of this course you should be able to address the management of the risk across the organisation or within a business unit area.

Establish Risk Context

  • Review organisational processes, procedures and requirements for undertaking risk management.
  • Determine scope for risk management process.
  • Identify internal and external stakeholders and their issues.
  • Review political, economic, social, legal, technological and policy context.
  • Review strengths and weaknesses of existing arrangements
  • Document critical success factors, goals or objectives for area included in scope.
  • Obtain support for risk management activities.
  • Communicate with relevant parties about the risk management process and invite participation.
  • Assessment - ‘True’ or ‘False’ Quiz

Identify Risks

  • Invite relevant parties to assist in the identification of risks.
  • Research risks that may apply to scope.
  • Use tools and techniques to generate a list of risks that apply to the scope, in consultation with relevant parties.
  • Assessment - ‘True’ or ‘False’ Quiz.

Analyse Risks

  • Assess likelihood of risks occurring.
  • Assess impact or consequence if risks occur.
  • Evaluate and prioritise risks for treatment.
  • Assessment - ‘True’ or ‘False’ Quiz.

Select and Implement Treatments

  • Determine and select most appropriate options for treating risks.
  • Develop an action plan for implementing risk treatment.
  • Communicate risk management processes relevant parties.
  • Ensure all documentation is in order and appropriately stored.
  • Implement and monitor action plan.
  • Evaluate risk management process.
  • Assessment - "True' or ‘False’ Quiz.


  • Course material will be accessible only for 6 months from payment date. Extensions will be granted only in the case where WEA Sydney’s website is not accessible due to maintenance or other technical issues.
  • Once your enrolment has been processed you will be issued with a password within 48 hours sent to the email you provided. This will provide 24 hour access to on-line course material, test and other resources. This will be sent to the email address you have provided.
  • No qualifications or special knowledge of a subject is required unless specified.
  • A certificate is issued automatically once the course test is completed with a 90% success rate.


  • Once you log into the course, no refunds will be issued.
  • Refunds/Deferral (into a different course) are processed only within 29 days after the issue of the log-in and only in cases when the log-in was NEVER used.
