Have you ever been kept waiting in a store while the retail assistant tried to work out how to process a transaction on the cash register or change a till roll? We’ve all been there, and it’s frustrating, isn’t it? Now put yourself in the retail assistant’s shoes – do you think they were feeling embarassed at their lack of knowledge and just as frustrated as you with their inability to do their job?


Most people think operating retail equipment is simple and straightforward. However, with many retailers using increasingly sophisticated and complex equipment, it’s not as easy as it once was. It is vital you understand how to use the retail equipment in your workplace – not just their day-to-day operation, but also how to process more unusual transactions, how to troubleshoot problems and maintain your equipment so it doesn’t fail you when you need it most.


This course is broken up into three (3) sections. They are:

  1. Maintain Retail Technology
  2. Apply Keyboard Skills
  3. Operate Data Entry Equipment

At the conclusion of this course, you will be asked to complete an assessment. The information contained in this resource will assist you to complete this task.


COURSE CONTENT
Maintain Retail Equipment

  • Identify purpose of equipment used in store or department
  • Operate equipment, according to design specifications and safety equipment
  • Identify equipment faults and report to relevant personnel
  • Identify and apply maintenance program for retail equipment according to store policies and procedures

Apply Keyboard Skills

  • Operate keyboard using typing techniques within designated speed and accuracy requirements
  • Enter and edit information accurately

Operate Data Entry Equipment

  • Enter data using relevant equipment, according to store policy and procedures
  • Operate price marking equipment, according to manufacturer instructions and store policy
  • Enter data accurately and within designated time frames

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  • Course material will be accessible only for 6 months from payment date. Extensions will be granted only in the case where WEA Sydney’s website is not accessible due to maintenance or other technical issues.
  • Once your enrolment has been processed you will be issued with a password within 48 hours sent to the email you provided. This will provide 24 hour access to on-line course material, test and other resources. This will be sent to the email address you have provided.
  • No qualifications or special knowledge of a subject is required unless specified.
  • A certificate is issued automatically once the course test is completed with a 90% success rate.

REFUND POLICY

  • Once you log into the course, no refunds will be issued.
  • Refunds/Deferral (into a different course) are processed only within 29 days after the issue of the log-in and only in cases when the log-in was NEVER used.
