Coronavirus Updates

WEA Sydney and COVID-19

In line with many other organisations, WEA Sydney was quick to take action to protect its tutors, students and staff when the rapid development of the COVID-19 virus became clear. We stopped or postponed all Summer classes a fortnight ago, and also cancelled the planned Autumn April holiday program – in effect therefore halting all face-to-face teaching here in WEA House from that time (Wednesday 18 March) through until the planned start of our main Autumn term program on Monday 27 April.

WEA Sydney then decided to convert with the support of its tutors, as many Autumn term classes as possible to an online delivery mode, with the aim of commencing a vibrant and full Autumn program from April 27 onwards. This transition has now been achieved with over 170 courses now available as online study starting within the coming months, featuring all of WEA’s regular categories.

To participate in these classes, all you need is an email, internet connection and access to a device such as a phone/tablet or computer with a microphone and speakers. For more information on how our online classes will work, please see our Zoom FAQ page.

The WEA office remains open during this period and you can contact us through the regular channels. Most importantly, WEA Sydney will continue to follow the NSW Government guidelines in relation to curbing the spread of COVID-19.
