This course is for students who need to communicate with fluency in Spanish. It is also designed for people working in the local tourist industry who need to communicate at an advanced level with Spanish clients. Students will have the opportunity to focus on specific skills, such as extending vocabulary in given areas, improving written language, and developing a better understanding of specific cultural and social issues relevant to the tourist industry. The class is conducted entirely in Spanish and includes individual presentations by the students, as well as group debates and discussions on Spanish current affairs, Spanish news, songs, poems, movies etc. Students enrolling should have enough proficiency/fluency to follow the class.

This class will be delivered online via the online platform Zoom. Enrolling students need to ensure they have an email, a reliable internet connection, microphone/speakers and access to a tablet, smartphone or computer. Classes will consist of a minimum of 1.5 hours virtual class time, together with 30 minutes worth of work to be completed independently. You will be able to contact your tutor by email or phone to ask for guidance and feedback on this work. In addition tutors may set additional homework.

PLANNED LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of this course, students should be able to:

1. Communicate in fluent Spanish, in particular to give assistance, direction and instructions to Spanish tourists.
2. Use advanced Spanish skills in conversation in both social and business settings.
   
   

LANGUAGE CLASS TRANSFER POLICY

If you are a new WEA Student and enrol into a language class and subsequently find that you are at the wrong level (whether too high or too low), you are permitted to transfer into another more suitable class at no additional cost, provided that the request is made within the first two classes and is in writing from your tutor directly to the Education Manager. After that point, an administration fee of $30 will apply.
