Wine’s history in Latin America begins in the year 1524, when Hernán Cortés began the production of wine in Mexico, being the first place on the continent where grapes were regularly grown. Missionaries were responsible for the expansion of winemaking on the entire continent. Nowadays, Latin American wine regions are considered part of the “new world wines” and have become home to some of the most productive and refined wineries on the planet. Countries such as Argentina, Chile and Mexico are the main producers and consumers of wines in Latin America; many of their wineries offer unique wine experiences and an imaginative pairing with cuisine.

• Brief history of wine production in Latin America: A general introduction of the beginning of the wine production, understand why the region is called the “New World wine”, which are the countries that are part of it and which are the main differences between the “New World and Old World Wine”.
• Wine Basics, tasting Wine, Food and Wine pairing: Explore some basic definitions, wine characteristics and main facts. Learn about the 4-basic steps when tasting wine and what considered when pair wine with food. Discover some food and wine pairing tips and take home two Latin American food recipes to prepare in an Aussie home.
• Best Latin American wine regions: Discover the best regions in Latin America for growing grapes and making wine. Learn about the top wines of Argentina, Chile and Mexico and which are the most recommended wine regions where to enjoy very unique wine tourism experiences.
