This course is a continuation from French Conversation & Grammar 1 and is for any student wishing to learn the language for business, travel or everyday use with approximately 380 hours of French required. Students will develop skills to use in conversation, reading, listening and writing. This course aims to build general comprehension and communication skills in advanced French and a review of cultural practices, with a focus on clear explanation of higher level language principles.

This class will be delivered online via the online platform Zoom. Enrolling students need to ensure they have an email, a reliable internet connection, microphone/speakers and access to a tablet, smartphone or computer. Classes will consist of a minimum of 1.5 hours virtual class time, together with 30 minutes worth of work to be completed independently. You will be able to contact your tutor by email or phone to ask for guidance and feedback on this work. In addition tutors may set additional homework.

PLANNED LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of this course, students should be able to:

1. Can understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in his/her field of specialisation.
2. Can interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party.
3. Can produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.
   
   

LANGUAGE CLASS TRANSFER POLICY

If you are a new WEA Student and enrol into a language class and subsequently find that you are at the wrong level (whether too high or too low), you are permitted to transfer into another more suitable class at no additional cost, provided that the request is made within the first two classes and is in writing from your tutor directly to the Education Manager. After that point, an administration fee of $30 will apply.
