Zadar’s claim to fame is the fact that it is the longest continuously inhabited city in Croatia, dating back more than 3,000 years. Roman, Byzantine and Venetian rule left their still clearly visible marks in the city, which was added to the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2017. Surrounded by five National Parks, one of which encompasses the equally World Heritage listed Plitvice Lakes, render the city also interesting as a base for nature lovers.
